Dr. Larry A. Mulvaney
Dr. Larry Mulvaney is a renowned dental professional who focuses on advanced dental treatments for adults. He is friendly, personable and always takes extra time to make his patients comfortable to ensure their visits are stress-free. These are just a few of the reasons why he’s frequently recommended by patients.
A graduate from the University of Illinois dental school, he completed his periodontal externship at Northwestern Dental School and received his Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School. He graduated from the MISCH International Implant Prosthetic Program and New York University two-year Implant and Prosthetic Program. He also completed the one-year advanced implant surgery and anesthesiology program at the University of Puerto Rico. Additionally, Dr. Mulvaney is one of the 14 Kois Course Graduates in Illinois and the 444 across the U.S. The Kois Course is an intensive curriculum involving esthetic, occlusion and restorative dentistry.
Because of his extensive training, Dr. Larry Mulvaney can perform multiple procedures in a single visit using conscious sedation or IV sedation. While most dentists aren’t certified to facilitate IV sedation, Dr. Mulvaney is one of the few who can. This practice helps lower a patient’s stress level by making them relax and put them into a deep sleep during more involved procedures.
Dr. Mulvaney has regularly worked with dental implants and is an authority on bone grafting, which is instrumental to ensuring the success of a dental implant. He is dedicated to improving his skills through ongoing training and education so Northwestern Dental Group patients have access to the newest technologies and he has lectured at industry events discussing implant related procedures.
Dr. Mulvaney is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Chicago Dental Association, Illinois Dental Association and a general member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In addition, he is one of only 156 Fellows of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in Illinois, as well as one of only 55 members of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiologists in Illinois.

Dr. Phimone Atsawasuwan
Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan is an experienced and highly accomplished orthodontist. He is a board certified-orthodontist. As he practices orthodontic treatment, he also works as an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was awarded the Thomas M. Graber Award of Special Merit, which is one of the most prestigious awards from the American Association of Orthodontists. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery and Master of Science degrees in periodontics from Mahidol University, Thailand. He then received his Master of Science in periodontology from Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, United Kingdom. Dr. Atsawasuwan went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his doctoral degree in oral biology and his postdoctoral fellowship. Afterward Dr. Atsawasuwan completed his Master of Science degree and his certificate in orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he joined the department of orthodontics as a faculty and became a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Atsawasuwan enjoys teaching and research, which always keeps him up-to-date with cutting-edge technology in the field of orthodontics. He is also a notable author and has published a book chapter and numerous research articles in several scientific peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Dental Research, PLOS One, Gene, American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Angle Orthodontist. He serves as a reviewer for many scientific and orthodontic journals. He received numerous awards and research funds from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, University of Illinois at Chicago, American Association of Orthodontists Foundation and Align Technology. He gives his lectures at many scientific conferences in United States and worldwide. His scholarly interests include accelerated tooth movement, craniofacial biology and interdisciplinary treatment.
Dr. Atsawasuwan focuses on evidence-based clinical orthodontics and believes in the philosophy of patient satisfaction. He incorporates the latest advances in orthodontics in treatment plans for his patients. Dr. Atsawasuwan’s goal is to improve the alignment of patients’ jaws and teeth and to provide them with smiles they can be proud of. The most rewarding part is to see his patients share their beautiful smiles with friends and family. Dr. Atsawasuwan enjoys traveling, nature and exploring new culinary experiences in Chicagoland.
Dr. Young-Mi Choi
Dr. Choi completed her undergraduate work at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. In 1999, she received her dental degree from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. She finished her specialty degree in Periodontics at Saint Louis University, in Saint Louis, in 2002.
During her periodontal training, she worked as an associate professor for 2 years at SLU, and received the first award for excellence in implant dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology and speaks fluent Korean.
